Rivers of Paradise Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to address the needs of the less priviledged, children and adults living with special needs/mental illness, widows and motherless children in Nigeria. We are committed to promote gender equality, equal access to basic needs such as food, shelter, health care and education. Providing aid to victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, diseases, discrimination, stigmatization, homelssness, injustice, depravation , lack of skills and violence. Raise awareness and provide trainings about mental illness and mental disorders. Providing therapy and counseling to individuals and groups suffering from Mental Illness such as internally displaced individual and others in our communities.
Our vision is to create communities where every individual has access to basic necessities and the opportunity to improve their quality of life. Eradicate to eradicate poverty, injustice, and inequality (Gender, economic Education), and to promote education, health, and economic development. We believe in a world where compassion, understanding, and mutual respect form the basis of who we are and how we treat each other. Empower communities to become self-sufficient and to inspire everyone to contribute towards making the world a better place.” Create social change through education, advocacy, and service.
▪ To engage in activities necessary to educate community regarding mental health
awareness, sensitization against stigmatization to individuals with mental illness and mental health disorders, promote inclusion programs for individuals with
mental health and disabilities.
▪ Provide counseling and therapy i.e. PTSD to agencies like Police, army, military
due to the nature of their work most of them suffer PTSD.
▪ Work closely with other agencies, NGO’s .community leaders and government
to provide urgently needed services to Internally Displaced population (IDP’s).
Unfortunately due to high levels of insecurity in the world including Nigeria.
IDP’s population suffers from various forms of mental health disorders not
limited to anxiety, PTSD, depression and even suicide due to the trauma they
experience (being removed from their homes, loss of property and livelihood,
Physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse etc.
▪ To provide, Mental Health Counseling, Prevention and Promotion, Detection
and Diagnosis, treatment care and Rehabilitation, training, education and
capacity building.
▪ To provide housing refuge, shelter facilities for abandoned orphans, motherless
babies, widows and individuals with special needs (Autism, Down’s syndrome,
cerebral palsy, etc).
▪ To provide spiritual and moral support to at risk children and widows in the
society.
▪ Working for uplifting the status of women in the society. To work against
FGM (female genital mutilation/cutting) and fight against gender based
violence.
▪ To render humanitarian aid and engage in provision of relief materials to
persons and communities in distress.
▪ To initiate impactful projects and or facilitate intervention in areas such as
educational activities, health, water, and sanitation, human capacity
development, economic empowerment, wealth creation and innovation and
agricultural advancement.
▪ To arrange and provide for, and or collaborate with other similar organizations
in organizing exhibitions, meetings, lectures, workshops, conferences, seminars
and trainings related to the aims and objectives of the foundation.
▪ To facilitate the printing and publishing of papers, books, periodicals,
pamphlets or documents, films or recorded tapes on issues that further the
objective of the foundation.
▪ To purchase or hire or acquire any property rights and privileges necessary for
the promotion of such objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings
necessary for the work or the attainment of the objectives of the foundation.
▪ To undertake any other steps in human development and other sources for the
realization of the objectives of the foundation.
